Overview

Amor Energy Corporation provides Electrical Planning Reports (EPRs) and EV Ready planning for strata councils and property managers in British Columbia. We coordinate site review, electrical capacity assessment and planning recommendations to help multifamily properties prepare for EV charging and future electrical demand.

An EPR summarizes existing electrical capacity, current and anticipated demand, and options for managing capacity. It is a planning report, not an installation design. An EV Ready Plan addresses the infrastructure needed for charging at parking stalls; the two reports can be coordinated but have different scopes.

As a BC Hydro Alliance member of energy professionals, we bring proven credentials and field experience to every project. Our licensed electricians work seamlessly with our in-house Professional Engineers (P.Eng.), blending practical expertise with technical precision.

BC generally requires stratas with five or more lots to obtain an EPR. Deadlines vary by location, with separate rules for new and phased stratas. Eligible report providers depend on the building type and include designated professionals beyond P.Eng. holders. See the Province of BC’s EPR requirements for current details.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is an Electrical Planning Report?

An EPR provides a comprehensive assessment of your building’s electrical system, including:

  • Current electrical service size and layout
  • How much electrical capacity is currently being used
  • How much room there is for future loads, such as for EV charging stations, electric heat pumps, and other energy-efficient systems
  • Actionable recommendations regarding the current electrical systems
Who needs to get an EPR?

Stratas with at least five lots generally need an EPR. Location, age and phasing determine the deadline; consult the provincial guidance linked above.

Why do I need an EPR for my building?

An EPR helps you:

  • Stay compliant with BC regulations
  • Understand your building’s current and future energy needs
  • Prepare for EV charger installations or gas-to-electric transitions
  • Avoid expensive surprises by planning upgrades in advance
Who is authorized to provide an EPR?

The eligible professional depends on the building type. BC permits designated engineers, engineering licensees, applied science technologists and certified technicians; qualifying journeyperson electricians may prepare reports for Part 9 buildings. Confirm the provider’s eligibility for your property.

How much does an EPR cost?

Prices typically range from $3,000 to $5,000, depending on the size and complexity of the building. Costs may increase over time due to rising demand and engineering workload, so early planning is highly recommended.

Does an EPR include a full EV-ready plan?

Not fully. An EPR may assess EV charging capacity, but a separate EV-ready plan is often needed for specific stall upgrades and rebate applications. We offer bundle deal for getting both the EPR and EV-ready plan done for your building!
